I took 2 weeks off work to try something new out. My maid went back to Indonesia for 2 months. And I was going to fill in the shoes of my maid by being a full time mom and housewife. No doubt I had a lot of leave to clear from work, so these 2 weeks off won’t really impact my leave for this year which I’ve not used at all!!!

The first day, was quite a disaster, I was running about my home doing the housework, but my baby boy was down and sad. He was sick with diarrhea and a bit sad because my maid was not around. Someone he has known since birth and only now when he is almost 2 years old has disappeared. The whole day went by with him looking really glum, and at night, from 1 – 5 am he ‘pooed’ 3 times and did not sleep instead ended up wailing. I was really tired and completely worn out. I called for help from my hubby and he helped out with my kid from 5 – 8 am.
I could not take it anymore and asked my mom for help for 2 nights in a row, I got my act together and started firstly cleaning up the house, checking my stuff and got lots of good household tips from friend M. I did the laundry, mopping, sweeping, cleaned the bathrooms, and even cooked!
Then I got some cupcakes and went over to mom’s for tea, where I picked my boy up and had my first ride with only both of us in the car. He was quiet with the milk bottle in his mouth and looked extremely cute. Over the next 3 days he was fantastic, I think we finally got really used to each other and he slept through the night, of course I worked out a different way of putting him to sleep and took him to the park every evening. Now, I’ll be missing him again, as I send him back to mom’s place to go stay over at a friend’s place where I’m her bridesmaid for her wedding the next day.

I miss my darling baby boy a lot! What I can’t put up with is housework! It seems endless. The 2 things I thought would cause me the most pain which is taking care of my baby and cooking, seem to be the 2 things I enjoy most. Housework however never ends, the cleaning and the laundry never stops! I got to start getting adjusted to it, and learn how to take a break. I did manage to squeeze in watching a movie ‘Because I Said So’, lovely movie, especially love the wedding cake when the mom gets married and the 3 daughters in black dresses. Also, if you noticed, I still make time to blog!
I’m looking forward to going back to work, but at the same time right now I love spending time with my son and also cooking! It’s just the cleaning bit. Truth be told, I’ve gotten extremely used to having a stay in maid. However, when it comes to doing anything, it's always the mind over the matter, CHARGE!

Loosen up with the housework... the lazy housewife's way...
Pack the things that you hardly use and tag them with dates... After a few months or years, throw them away...
Sweep the floor once everyday and you may not have to vacuum so often.
Keep the windows closed, use more air-cond...
Last of all, buy good quality cooking oil and ingredients... you'll be surprised how clean your kitchen remains... much less greasy...
good tips. i've decided on a part time once a week maid for now.hahaha.
good quality cooking oil, any suggestions? i've been cooking, and after that its all about keeping the stove super clean..tiring work.
