Jane Austen

How little I knew about this author. I watched ‘Becoming Jane’ last night. The main reason I watched this movie ‘initially’ was because of Anne Hathaway, one of my favorite actresses. Then, I realized there was more to this movie than I assumed.

Other than the perfect English and fabulous vocabulary, this movie carried with it a story that goes deep down into the matters of the heart. I may believe this movie to be true and have fallen in love with the poise and principles that Jane Austen carries herself with. It is sad and beautiful beyond words.

I believe as Jane that “Anything is to be preferred or endured rather than marrying without Affection.” It is one of the closest bonds that we form in our lifetime and a major decision we make when we decide to share the rest of our life with someone.

The end of the story is of course the reason why Jane mentions this.

"A woman especially if she has the misfortune of knowing anything, should conceal it as well as she can." -Jane Austen

I applaud Jane on concealing a secret so deep and in putting the needs of others before her own especially since this was a matter of love so hard to find and so close to her heart. She was a tenacious lady who was resolute despite circumstances.
