After 29 years and being in this church, KL Wesley Methodist Church almost all my life, I finally attended for the first time, the Good Friday service.
It’s a 3 hour service that’s held from 12 to 3 p.m. and honestly, when I first went I didn’t think I’d make it for the whole nine yards. But I did!
It was really good, really bringing back to life what actually happened during Jesus cruxification with 7 mini sermons each explaining the last 7 sentences of Jesus on the cross.
Here is Jesus last 7 sentences.
1. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. (Scripture passage Luke 23: 33-34)
2. Verily I say unto you, today thou shalt be with me in paradise. (Scripture passage Luke 23: 39-43)
3. Woman, behold thy son! Behold thy mother! (Scripture passage John 19: 25-27)
4. My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me. (Scripture passage Mark 14:33-34)
5. I thirst. (Scripture passage John 19: 28)
6. It is finished. (Scripture passage John 19:29-30)
7. Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. (Scripture passage Luke 23:46)
Out of all the 7 words above, the one that touched me the most was no. 3, the Lord at the height of his suffering could still think of his loved ones.
I think and hope I will go back year after year for this service, it’s one of the best church services I’ve been to! I can’t believe I’ve been missing out all these years.
