Reading

Reading is a good habit. I love to read but lately I've been struggling to find the time to read and it's become sort of a race I need to run to finish all the milestones I've set for myself.

Firstly, I together with 2 other friends(KY &AG) have set a task in Jan 2011 to finish reading the Bible in a year. It started off really well for me, I loved Genesis as I found it really interesting. As the chapters in the old testament went on and work got busy, I slowed down and found 1 and 2 Kings a struggle to get through. By June, I'm suppose to be at Job, I have 3 more books to read Ezra, Nehemiah and Esther as I just got through 2nd Chronicles today. Though it has been really tough at times to keep at it, I must say, that I have learnt so much. I'm able to identify more easily with Pastor's sermons at church. It also helps that I have this Biblical knowledge when I speak to my kids at Sunday School. So, I still do aim to keep at this.

Secondly, I'm going to get busier second half of this year when I start studying for my project management exam. It's a lot of reading. And with work, and reading the Bible by end of the year, I do hope I have the time to do this properly and give it my best as well. For the exam, I need to read a whole book called the PMBOK(Project Management Body of Knowledge). And based on previous colleagues and those who have sat for the exam, there are more books I need to purchase and read!

Thirdly, like I said at the beginning I love reading...so I do have books borrowed from friends that are on my shelf and waiting for me to open their pages. Lately, I've borrowed 2 books from K and they are both by Malaysian writers. The first one I have finished, and I have started the 2nd.

So there you go, have I set too many goals that reading has become more of a chore rather than pleasure?
